Production[edit | edit source]

Mala Miles originally created the comic book series My Hero Academia in 1987 for Bear Bones' comic division, following the success of Agent DX, with the last releases of the comic occurring between 1991 and 1992.

In 1991, Miles began pitching both series to Fox Kids. The network initially passed on My Hero, and picked up DX, before picking up My Hero in 1992. Bear Bones created two pitch reels in 1993 and 1994. The series was picked up in August 1994, and pre-production began in November of that year.

The series was animated by AKOM Production Co. in South Korea.
